BallardBallard- Ballard is best described eclectic, with a median resident age around 35. There is a wide variety of residents ranging from young professionals to middle-aged couples and everything in between.  The residents in Ballard don’t mind crossing the bridge in high traffic times to get where they need to go because their home is their oasis-close enough to get downtown, but away from the hustle and bustle. This area is thriving and also growing, with condos and apartment buildings being built just steps from trendy bars, restaurants, and art spaces that have long made the Ballard neighborhood unique.

Local Favorites 

Percy’s and BalMar are two of the most lively places to venture to on weekends in Seattle. Ballard Avenue is home to much of the action in the neighborhood and there is no shortage of things to do. Golden Gardens Park (link) is a prime location for beach fun in the area-complete with BBQ pits and sometimes live music! If you’re a big dessert fan, head to Hot Cakes (link) to get your own personal sized molten chocolate cake baked fresh, or take some home to bake yourself!  Volterra has amazing Italian food if you’re craving some pasta, and check out Stone Burner for a delicious brunch. You also can’t miss the famous Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (aka the Ballard Locks), where you can see salmon swimming upstream in the underground observatory. Ray’s Boathouse (downstairs) or Ray’s Café (upstairs) will give you incredible views of the Sound and Olympic Mountains, just in case you forget how beautiful the Pacific Northwest can be on a sunny day!
