The median age is a little higher than the other areas of Seattle at 41, but don’t let that fool you. Mercer Island is a relaxed, beautiful commutable to downtown and east side location-as long as you have the money for it! 

Local Favorites 

The Roanoke Inn is far from the main “downtown” of Mercer Island, but it’s worth checking out. Legend has it that it’s where the idea for Microsoft was conceived. We can neither confirm or deny, but the views and the food make it worth a visit anyway. Groveland Park or Clarke Beach are perfect for someone who likes the outdoors and wants to take advantage of the lakeside oasis that is Mercer Island. Bennett’s is a resident favorite, with a great list of local wines. Sushi fan? Try Yuzen, a restaurant with a delectable variety of sushi rolls featured on its’ menu.
